Well, let me back up just a bit.
We believe that the church that Christ established in the world with his 12 apostles was the true church of God. After Christ passed away, however, so did the church, and for thousands of years the world developed hundreds (maybe even thousands) of other churches, which come close to, but were different than the church that Christ established.
We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the restored gospel - the one that Christ established.

We believe that God has prophets on the earth today to guide us. I love this principle, because it always made sense to me that God would give prophets to us now, not just in the past.
Every six months we get to hear the counsel of the Prophet, during general conference - which was just last weekend. And boy, did I need it! It was great to be able to sit at home, relax and hear spiritually uplifting messages.

The one that touched me most was about learning to put important things first. Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the church said
And the Prophet, Thomas S. Monson gave a great talk about how we all need to have gratitude." Let's face it, it's easy to be busy. It is hard to put what really matters first "
Whether you're religious or not, those messages are great ones that can improve anyone's life, and I know they are both something that I need to work to improve in my life.
Those were two of my favorite, also. They really are such great messages!
