The Biggest Loser Challenge: Week 2

and I'm down... 2 lbs! For a total of 3 lbs lost.
It might not sound like much to you, but I'm amazed with myself. I haven't been making that many changes, but the ones I have made are really paying off.

I'm trying to lose 1-2lbs a week. Why so little, you ask? Experts say that if you lose any more than that you'll have less sucess keeping it off in the long run. So I've been trying to make daily changes that I know I could keep up for the rest of my life.

Here's what I've learned this week:

-The value of snacking. I'm used to skipping breakfast and lunch and only eating dinner, which is awful for my metabolism. I'm still not eating breakfast, but I am eating healthy snacks throughout the day to keep my metabolism running.

I laugh everytime I see this picture!
- Zumba Rocks! I already knew that, but my good friend, Emily has been pushing me to go with her. I only went once last week, but I'm hoping to go more consistently with her. So much fun!

- Drinking water. To lose weight, you have to flush out the toxins in your body, which requires a ton of water. I definitely still need to drink even more than I have been!

- Portions, portions, portions! I haven't been really changing the meals that I usually cook, but I have been adding a ton of vergetables, and only eating until I'm full.

- It's easy to lose weight when it doesn't feel like work. Which is why I feel like I'm not doing much, just making changes that I should already be doing. Which is also why I accept invitations from my friends to go out. I know if I said no to them, I would feel really restricted.

Here's a look into my day today:

workout: 30 minutes on elliptical, 30 minutes walking buddy

Costco has an awesome breakfast shake!
Breakfast: Breakfast Shake, apple
Lunch: fiber bar, orange
Snack: Cracker Snack with large glass of juice
Dinner: Hobo dinner (lean ground beef with potatoes and corn) and steamed green beans

I probably still need to add more veggies and fruits into my day. If you see anything else you think I need to do or have any tips, let me know!

  2. Way to go Amber! I'm definitely taking a few notes on this. Especially the drinking water deal...sometimes I go the whole day on campus without a drink! That cannot be good for me.

I think you should try packing baby carrots as a snack during the day. They're one of the sweeter veggies and I have always loved snacking on them. I usually buy the humongous bag and it's gone the next week.
