Progress in Utah? What?!

Not sure if many of you know this, but Utah is second in plastic surgery (california beats us, but that's it). . Anyone who has driven along a SLC freeway and seen the billboards might not be shocked to hear the city has the most plastic surgeons per capita at six per 100,000 residents – topping NYC and LA! (check out this article for more info.)

Some of the research that I did at BYU involved body image, and going about proving that body image is worse at BYU than at other colleges. We came close, but lacked enough participants, to proving that women have worse body image (meaning lowered self-esteem) here at BYU.

Why? Well, I hate to say it, but the culture is quite superficial here. It's this awful misconception that if you look perfect on the outside, then you must be perfect on the inside.

BUT Beauty redefined, this amazing organization, has bought the first non-profit, body-positive billboards in Utah. 12 of them!!! Here they are here:

They will be much more welcome than these ones, that just make Jeff and I laugh:

Did I mention there are tons of breast augmentation billboards?

Right after the election. Yeah... you can really only laugh at this one.

advertising plastic surgery. because all that matters is that your mommy is beautiful.

I'm seriously excited about the new billboards.
