I've had suspicions that madison was breech for about a week now. She would hiccup, and this small little head would poke up at the top of my stomach instead of the bottom. She must have heard me talking about my birthing plan and said to herself, "ha ha ha, I'm going to mess with mom as much as I can!".
Well, an ultrasound confirmed it. She is completely breech. We are going to schedule a External cephalic version, which is really just a fancy word for "let's push on your belly as hard as we can to force your baby to move".
we're scheduling it for friday... eeek!!!
From what I've heard, it's painful, even more painful than labor. And not exactly healthy for madison... So we're doing everything we can tomorrow to get her to flip on her own. Including...
1. going swimming. (apparently the weightlessness is supposed to help.)
2. standing on my head. (yeah, that'll be fun.)
3. shining a flashlight and playing some music downwards. (and encouraging her to "follow the light".)
4. drinking sugary fruit juice. (It spikes her blood sugar and makes her move more.)
5. doing a semi-head stand in a hot bath. (she hates the heat, and hopefully she'll crawl towards the part of me that isn't submerged in hot water.)
6. moxibustion (ancient chinese remedy that involves putting a certain spice on your feet. There's no risk in trying!
and most of all... relaxing. As I'm typing this right now, I have candles lit and music playing, and I'm about to do some meditation. The more I can relax, the more my muscles should relax, making it easier for her to move.
If anyone wants to accompany me tomorrow during my crazed hippie mission, let me know!!!
oh man, i am so sorry!! this totally stinks. but you will be awesome and i am sure everything will be great!
