Have a nice trip, see you next FALL

Fall is here, and life is good.
Fall means that for a split moment, utah is beautiful. The mountains look like they're on fire. The weather is cool enough for me to wear awesome looking jackets, but not so cold that I feel like smacking strangers, and Jeff and I get to decorate the house!
Last year we were poorer than poor... and this year, we're poor, and creative. :)

We started the day trying to find a pumpkin patch. Preferably one that we could take our dog with us, since he's kind of my baby-replacement right now. But very soon I realized that unlike Oregon, where you drive a mile away and pay a few buck for  pumpkin out of someone's backyard, Utah only really has pumpkin patches that are mini-disneylands. Which means no dogs, very expensive, and no real pumpkins growing on a vine... which is the opposite of what I wanted.

So after some lunch and some brain-storming, we went to michael's, and I found these few small things. We figure we'll just keep adding on every year, right?

This is probably my all-time favorite fall decoration! It's just a simple glass jar, but I love it! Yes, I realize that I probably could have made this on my own... but it was cheap enough that I just don't care. :)

I'm also crocheting another blanket... finally, one that I'm actually keeping! The yarn is this awesome burnt orange color, and when I'm done, I'll crochet a green border and attach fall-colored polka dots. Sound cheesy? that's because it probably will be, which in my opinion, is the only way that halloween decorations should be.

This little guy is Jeff's best friend. He picked him out to put on our doorstep. The new house that we live in is in a neighborhood with lots of kids, so I wanted to make sure that kids knew that they're welcome to take our candy. I'm so excited!

My favorite part about holidays growing up were all the decorations. My Grandma Doris is an amazing artist and craft-maker. I remember going into her craft room thinking that it was a giant toy room, and I always imagined that her craft room probably looked just like Santa's workshop. I know I'm not much of a crafter, but I'm hoping to get into it more so my kids can fall in love with homemade decorations, too.

In Other news, the Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Snoopy costumes are coming along... all I need to do is make the ears for buddy. Then we will all look like this:

Now I just need to find a Lucy wig.
Hmmm....

  2. Amber- There's a pumpkin patch in Springville (right by Walmart) where dogs are allowed (my family brought our little puppy to walk around it), the pumpkins are actually growing on vines, and it is CHEAP! It's the cutest place! And they have a petting zoo with a KANGAROO. It's sweet haha.
