What's in a grade? That which we call a degree By any other GPA would smell as sweet.

I just remembered that I have a 10 page paper due in two days...

and so I decided to blog. :)

In case anyone didn't know... I have a hard time with grades. Up until college, the only thing I had gotten a B in was middle school PE.
When college came around, I realized I needed to let go a little bit... so I allowed myself one B per semester. Generous, huh?
And now that I'm crazy busy... my grades have gone down.

So, I'm putting myself through therapy. A quest to get my very first C ever!!!
I'm not going to lie, everytime I realize that I'll be getting Cs and Bs this semester, I start feeling like I need to hyperventilate, which is exactly why this is great therapy for me.

Now excuse me while I write 100 times: "Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees!"
Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees. Cs are not bad. Cs get degrees.

PS - I'm not the only one! A recent study conducted found that B's are the new C's, meaning that students now frown upon B's the way that past students frowned upon C's. The standard is definitely higher now than ever before!

  1. I feel your pain (kind of). I mean I've never had the grades you have but I'm probably going to end up with a C in statistics (even though I've worked my butt off) and I'm just going to have to let it go! And it's not easy... but life is just so much better when you can accept the things you can't change. I know you've worked your butt off all semester, too, so this isn't easy. But I'm proud of you :] I mean, look at everything else that has been going on this semester, you're doing great! Hang in there, it's almost over!!! Love you!

  3. I have four C's under my belt. I also have a job and a full tuition scholarship. C's are not bad. C's get degrees. and jobs.

  4. Amanda, I think you're right, that it's hard when you've done your best and you still don't get a good grade. Grades should reflect your effort.
I actually might get a D in my music Civ class, so that's what's worrying me the most.
Whitney - I envy your scholarship and job. After graduation Jeff and I will be homeless and jobless. yaaay.

  5. Let me share with you the wise words my elder brother imparted on me when I got into school here:
"C is Credit, D is for Diploma!"

  7. Amber-- we haven't spoken in a while but I have always lurked your blog and this post has always resonated with me, but it is especially important to me right now with one of the toughest semesters and personal matters going on in my life now. Maybe we could discuss this grades/self-worth/challenge to "do less" or be okay with a "lesser" grade and value what REALLY matters in life some time through e-mail or FB chat?
