Back to the Future!

Today I was stressin out over my 3 tests that I have tomorrow, paper to write this weekend, and massive midterm on wednesday, and so I began to look at old pictures.

Side Note - did you know that procrastination is actually the body's coping mechanism for stress? Psychologists have proved that the body will "procrastinate" as a way of dealing with pain.
Hence, this blog.

Anyways, I was looking at old pictures and found some from way back in 2005. I remember feeling so awkward in my own skin, and feeling as if I was sooo overweight. This is what I looked like:

I'm the one in the pink shirt... not the elephant.
This was actually a trip with the Folsoms! I used to go on family vacations with them to Utah while I was still investigating the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I still consider them a big part of my life, even though I don't get to see them as often.

Anyways, when I saw this picture, my mouth dropped. I was lookin' good back then. I definitely have been on a few newlywed pounds, and I'm determined to get them off.

So, my new goal is to get back to 2005, and I believe that I only have to lose 20 lbs to get there, but the goal is 30. I'll be happy even if I just lose 10!

Isn't it funny the perceptions we have of ourselves?

And here is my detailed diet plan:

-Adding more vegetables. I read that half of your plate should be vegetables, a quater should be meat, and the other quarter should be bread or pasta.

-Working out more. This one is harder with the lack of time I have, but I read that 90 minutes a week should be a minimum. So I'm using Wii active to workout immediately after I get home.

-Doing more active date nights. Jeff and I have the habit of popping in a movie for date nights, but that routine gets old. Instead we're trying to go on more walks, and even go Ice Skating.

- Eating soup for lunch. Or at least until I get tired of it. Campbell's Chunky Soup only has 280 caolries in a whole can, a whole serving of vegetables, and even better - it fills me up! So until I get tired of it, I'm going to try eating about 3 cans a week to really cut out calories

And that's about it. They're all mostly small things, but I think over time it'll really pay off!

So here's to another New Year's resolution that I'm really hoping I'll stay with!

  1. wahooo!! i gave up on setting resolutions years ago. i remember my dad having ''year end interviews'' with us EVERY december. and he'd ask how everything went the last year and how we felt about it and what goals we wanted to set for the new year. yeah the interviews ended about 1998 and so did my desire to fail yearly. so yeah.

good luck though love!! i have a TON of faith in the fact that you are far more diligent in life than i. ha
